Andie McGovern is an Australian – Filipino contemporary, multi disciplinary artist whose main art forms consist of sculpture, illustration and installation. Amongst other things, being pigeon-holed as a millennial has proven to be useful inspiration with most of her artwork relating to subject matters explored within pop culture.
Although Andie has been making art since she was a child, it is only in the last 12 months that she has had a presence in her hometown of Brisbane’s local arts scene. This influence can be seen most notably in her latest work ‘But my mum says I’m cool’, a 32 piece sculpture series involving Simpsons subject matter, exploring each character’s vices, addiction and the perception that surrounds it.
This two and a half year project will be exhibiting abroad in New York, including her third solo exhibit at Ghost Gallery (893 Bergen Street, Suite 7) in the neighborhood of Prospect Heights, Brooklyn with the opening reception on Friday, November 9th from 7PM-9PM and an online exhibition at The Vega Studio.
